The Spanish women’s team will be seen on Radio Televisión Española (Rtve). The agreement that the corporation has signed with the Royal Spanish Football Federation (Rfef) will be valid during the 2022 and 2023 seasons and encompasses both the meetings of friendly character like those of official competitionl, as reported by the National Team in a statement.
The first games that can be seen openly will be the next friendly match against Brazil in Alicante on April 7 and the qualifying rounds for the 2023 World Cup. The first official match will be the clash against Scotland, which can serve the Spanish national team as a definitive ticket for next year’s World Cup.
The agreement is part of Rtve’s plan to acquire the rights to international football. Last February, national television won the bid to take over the rights to the Qatar 2022 World Cup, with an investment of close to 35 million euros. Rtve also disbursed 60 million euros for the rights to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and will offer, seven years later, this year’s Champions League final live.
Rtve has also announced that it will offer live the European Championship that Spain will play this summer in England from July 8
In addition to soccer, Rtve broadcasts other disciplines such as rugby, women’s basketball, badminton and female tennis. The star asset of the corporation is still cyclingsince Rtve broadcasts the Tour de France annually through La 1 and Teledeporte.
As for women’s football clubs, Spain is the fifth country with the highest average budget per team, with 628,000 dollars, surpassing the French Division 1 Féminine by just 9,000 dollars, according to a ranking prepared by Fifa. The international football federation has analyzed a total of 30 leagues and 282 clubs based on surveys.
