The meeting of the 30th day of National between the Red Star and Sète was definitively stopped this Friday evening in the 42nd minute (0-1 for Sète) after a new jet of smoke from the Della Negra stand, den of the Ultras audoniens . The latter still do not digest the imminent takeover of Red Star (currently 11th in National) by the American investment fund 777 Partners, chaired by Josh Wander.
The mayor (PS) of Saint-Ouen Karim Bouamrane, supporter of Red Star since his childhood, was one of the 3,000 people present at the Bauer stadium. Moved by the possible arrival of a foreign investor at the end of 2021, he had rather welcomed this initiative from the American investment fund. The city councilor of the city of Seine-Saint-Denis gives us his feelings on the end of this meeting and the next deadlines.
What is your feeling ?
KARIM BOUAMRANE. This is the opinion of anger. The manner of the ultras supporters is reprehensible because it can jeopardize the safety of the public and the players. But their questions are legitimate because it puts the future of Red Star and its values at the heart of the debate. There are three things: firstly a local anchorage in Bauer, secondly a training club and, finally, a stadium which ensures accessible pricing for all. As mayor, I am the guarantor of these values.
When are you going to meet the American investment fund?
I have to meet 777 Partners next Thursday (Editor’s note: April 21). But it is necessary that the investment fund meets, in the same way as the institutional partners, the collective of the supporters of Red Star to bring elements of permanent answer on what it intends to do in the next years.
What is your wish?
I would like 777 Partners to ensure a medium-term presence here of at least five years. I don’t want Red Star to become the training center for 777 (Editor’s note: this investment fund already owns several clubs on the planet such as Genoa in Italian Serie A, Standard de Liège in Belgian D1 and Vasco da Gama in Brazilian D1). They must record our history and our values.
