Ever since he burst onto the world golf scene, Tiger Woods has never let anyone dictate his choices. A principle even more evident since the disappearance in 2006 of his father Earl Woods, first coach and mentor. Both on the course and behind the scenes, the American has only learned to listen to himself.

In February 2014, in an exclusive interview for Le Figaro Magazine (the last granted to a French media), Tiger Woods explained: “Golf is a compendium of life. So many different aspects are brought together: concentration, determination, frustration, exuberance, loneliness… As well as having to manage your body.” Then again become world No. 1 after a gap in his career between 2009 and 2011, Tiger Woods said, both cautious and sure of himself: “The most important thing is that the result depends only on you. On good days and bad days.”
