In hockey, soccer, baseball, athletics or elsewhere, the young athletes of Sept-Îles took advantage of well-organized leisure activities, thanks to the volunteer work of guys like Gros Pier. The children have grown up and the sports animator from the Cégep de Sept-Îles has retired. But he didn’t stop volunteering.
Pier Gilbert, known to everyone as Gros Pier in Sept-Îles, stopped by radio Plaisir 94.1 during Volunteer Action Week. He did not have time to come live at noon, because he gives his time to distribute Meals on Wheels meals from the Center d’Action Bénévole de Sept-Îles to seniors with loss of autonomy.
He wanted to speak to us as president of the Ordre du Mérite Nord-Côtier, because there is a ceremony on the first Sunday of June for the induction of twenty new members who have accumulated at least 15 years of volunteering.
Pier Gilbert considers it important to recognize the work of volunteers. He will do so once again as President of the Order in June. In the meantime, thank you Gros Pier! Our young people had fun in our arenas and on our outdoor fields.
