The Japan High School Baseball Federation is the first candidate for the high school Japanese national team to participate in the “30th WBSC U-18 (18 years old or younger) Baseball World Cup” (September 9-, Florida, USA) on March 31st. Twenty-nine players were announced, and pitcher Tsubasa Yoneda of Wakayama City (3rd year) and infielder Konoue Heira infielder of Wakayama Higashi (same) were selected from within Wakayama Prefecture.
Both of them participated in the spring selection tournament. Yoneda won a complete game in two games against Hanamaki Higashi and Akihide Hitachi, and was active in two RBIs in the Kurashiki Industrial Battle.
The high school representative from Japan will be directed by Shiro Mabuchi, the director of Meitoku Gijuku. As the first candidate, the most five people have been selected from Osaka Toin, who won the selection tournament.
The final 20 members will be decided during the National High School Baseball Championship this summer. Depending on the success of the summer, it is expected that more players from the prefecture will be selected.
