There are five dégling’rooms in France, gaming rooms where people can come and break glass bottles or even used computer equipment with a lot of baseball bats. One of these rooms is located in Joué-lès-Tours. It is unique in the Centre-Val de Loire, so you had to take a trip there.

Maximum three players

For that, direction Tours’n fun, Hervé Lesueur, one of the managers welcomes us and explains the principle: “You are in a room where the walls are reinforced and inside, you will find glass bottles or multimedia equipment in different ways. The session lasts 45 minutes and you have all this time to break what is in the room. It is possible to play in groups of up to three people. The game is reserved for adults, or accompanied minors from 14 years old.

45 minute sessions

Before going to break everything, you still have to equip yourself. We put on overshoes, to avoid piercing them or injuring myself with shards of glass. The outfit also includes leggings, gloves, a breastplate and a helmet with a visor to protect against shards that could fly into the room. Once in the room, several bottles and glass jars face us as well as three weapons: a baseball bat, a crowbar and a hammer.

“The first blows are always tender”

Our aversion to DIY and our diligent practice of baseball on wii sport pushes me to choose the bat. “Once you have chosen your tool, you can arrange the bottles however you want on the table. You can even throw them directly with your hand at the wall”. Here we are, facing a small bottle of beer on the table. We take a deep breath. We get into position, feet parallel, we arm our shot: “The bat is horizontal” indicates Hervé Lesueur. The first shot goes off, rather limply, the bottle goes off quickly and shatters against the wall.

A unique concept in Centre-Val de Loire

“The first shots are always a little soft, it’s after that the players tend to release their energy” explains Hervé. And in this dimly lit room, We begin to take pleasure in smashing his bottles with a big blow of a baseball bat, then with a crowbar, then with a hammer… like everything happens. In total, it took us half an hour to break all the bottles. We come out of the room sweating, tired, but having had fun and with the desire to start again. Be careful not to reproduce this at home, because, it is assumed that breaking the dishes in the house could put your partner on edge.
