Anderlecht or AA Gent? Genk or STVV? Those are the two big questions for the final match day of the Jupiler Pro League. We list who needs what.

Battle for the Champions’ play-offs: AA Gent must hope for KV Kortrijk

Since last weekend, Anderlecht are two points ahead of AA Gent. Only one scenario is conceivable in which AA Gent can still steal the last place for the play-offs for the title from the Purple & White. For that, the Buffalos have to win at home against OH Leuven and Anderlecht are not allowed to win in Kortrijk. In all other scenarios Anderlecht finish fourth.

Battle for the Europe play-offs: Genk must do just as well as STVV

Charleroi, Genk and STVV with three still qualify for the last two places in the play-offs for a European ticket. The Zebras are three points ahead of the two Limburg teams. They can only drop out if they lose at home to Zulte Waregem and Genk and STVV both win on the final match day.

Genk and STVV both have the same number of points and the same number of wins, but Genk is currently in eighth place because of a much better goal difference. It is unlikely that STVV will be able to collect eighteen goals on the final match day. That is why we can safely say that Genk will have to do at least as well on the final day in Seraing as STVV at home against Standard to cross the Europe play-offs.

And the rest?

Since last weekend, Seraing is certain that it will finish penultimate and will therefore have to play jump-off matches to be allowed to stay in 1A. The numbers ten to sixteen Cercle Brugge, OH Leuven, KV Kortrijk, Standard, KV Oostende, Eupen and Zulte Waregem therefore have nothing to gain or lose on the final match day.

Union, Club Brugge and Antwerp have already secured the Champion’s play-offs and are now playing to start the postseason with the most favorable points possible. The same applies to KV Mechelen, which is already certain of the Europe play-offs.
