Women’s national team starts training camp before matches in Luxembourg and Austria – Football – Sportacentrs.com

Roman Kvačov has invited 16-year-old goalkeeper Lolita Krasnosjolov to the national team for the first time, but the other candidates have experience in national team training. Kristīne Evelīna Lodziņa and Madara Matrevica are waiting for the opportunity to make their debut in the national team, but several candidates from the national team together with the WU-19 national team will participate in the European Championship selection games in Jelgava.

The team will train in Riga from Monday, but will go out on Wednesday evening. The match against Luxembourg will take place on 8 April at 19:00, but the match against Austria will follow on April 12 at 20:00. As reported, in February, the Latvian national team played three games in a test tournament in Turkey, defeating Lithuania (1: 0), fighting with Bulgaria (1: 1) and conceding to Venezuela (0: 3).

Our team has not yet met with the Luxembourg national team in the qualifying tournament, but the Austrians lost 1: 8 in the opening match of the competition in Liepaja last September. Austria is ranked 21st in the world, Latvia is 110th and Luxembourg is 116th.

In the overall standings of Group D of the qualifying tournament, Austria is in second place with 13 points in six games, Luxembourg is in fourth place with three points in five matches, but Latvia has not been in five games and is in sixth position.

The winner of each group will automatically qualify for the final tournament, while the runners-up will compete for two more tickets to Australia and New Zealand. This time, the European Confederation Zone has 11 seats in the final tournament, which for the first time in history will bring together the 32 strongest teams from around the world.
