Stefanie Vögele (WTA 141) did not make it past the first round in Bogota. The 32-year-old from Aargau quickly lost 6-0 6-3 to Italian Sara Errani (WTA 104).
Last year, Vögele reached the quarter-finals in the Colombian capital. This year, she has only one victory in a final table on the WTA circuit. It was in Lyon at the end of February.
Errani (34), Roland-Garros finalist in 2012, had not won any match on the main circuit in 2022. His last victory in a WTA tournament was in July. Errani now leads 4-2 in their head-to-head.
In-Albon facing the defending champion
A 2nd Swiss also appears in the final draw in Bogota, Ylena In-Albon (WTA 142). The Valaisanne was not spoiled in the draw: she must indeed face the No. 1 seed in the table, the Colombian Maria Camila Osorio Serrano (WTA 33), defending champion on “her” clay.
