After announcing her withdrawal from the WTA 1000 tournament in Madrid due to a right shoulder injury, Iga Swiatek nevertheless appeared at a press conference in the Spanish capital to address several subjects including the thorny one of the exclusion of Russian and Belarusian players from the next edition of Wimbledon.

“I think it would be good for the people who make the decisions at the WTA or the ATP to come to a decision, so that everything is less chaotic. It is difficult for me to say what is the right decision, I am 20 years old and I have never been involved in politics. Honestly, even in my private life, I don’t have much to say. I will only say that the right decision is the one that does not cause an escalation of the war… I am against the war, so any decision that makes the war not so hard, it will be the right decision. It’s not for me to say what the right decision is. »
