Wydad and Espérance finish first, Al Ahly holds its breath

Both winners this Saturday at a “Ramadanesque” schedule on the occasion of the 6e and last day of the Champions League group stage, Wydad Casablanca and Espérance Tunis secured first place in their respective pools. Al Ahly will play his destiny on Sunday evening.

The WAC did not give details by correcting Petro Atletico, also qualified at kick-off, with the score of 5-1! Juvhel Tsoumou (11e), Achraf Dari (29e), Zouhair El Moutaraji (32 .).e), Aymane El Hassouni (56 .)e) et Muaid Ellafi (71 .)e) scored against an anecdotal score reduction signed Pedro Pinto (63e) for Angolans.

In Group C, Esperance, on the other hand, had to work harder to overthrow CR Bélouizdad (2-1), who was also already qualified. Houssem Mrezigue even opened the scoring for the Algerians (2e), but the Sang et Or quickly turned things around in the space of 4 minutes thanks to Sabir Bougrine (13e) et Anayo Iwuala (17e).

Sunday evening, Al Ahly, double defending champion, will try to grab the last ticket for the quarter-finals. For this, the mission is simple: do not bow at home against the Sudanese Al Hilal, who dream of a resounding feat. See you next Tuesday for the draw for the quarter-finals!
