A jersey scam denounced by Ligue 2 and National clubs

“How I got scammed by parents who made us believe their child was seriously ill in order to scratch professional club shirts. » It is a first tweet, sent Wednesday by Thomas Félix, the communication manager of Football Bourg-en-Bresse Péronnas 01 (National), which revealed a scam in jerseys set up by a family. A tweet accompanied by a video of Lucas (deleted early this Thursday morning). The latter received a jersey from his favorite club, Bourg Péronnas, and from his favorite player, Maxime Blanc. To obtain the jersey, his parents said that their son had leukemia and had left Bourg-en-Bresse six months ago.

The capture of the tweet, deleted in the morning.

Only, the communication manager of Quevilly-Rouen, L 2 club, reacted fairly quickly: he received exactly the same request, saying that the child came from Rouen and that he was suffering from heart disease. .. Ditto for Chambly (National) and AJ Auxerre (L 2), who had sent Gaëtan Charbonnier’s signed jersey.

Legal action if they don’t return the jerseys

A dozen Ligue 2 and National 1 clubs have been contacted by this family, according to RMC Sport, who contacted several community managers, those responsible for social networks. The parents changed their surname each time and declared a different illness, without it being known today if their child is really sick.

“I launched this call on the networks to stem this phenomenon of scam, said Thomas Félix, still at RMC Sport. What is shocking is the attitude of the parents. Everyone supported the child, who is clearly being manipulated. » He indicated on Wednesday on Twitter that he had decided, with the social media manager of AJ Auxerre, to contact the father of the child to ask him to return the shirts. “Otherwise we will take legal action. We can’t let this pass, especially since I’m sure other clubs/players have been taken in. »

In the morning, this Thursday, he therefore deleted all the tweets showing the child, as well as the exchanges of emails with his mother, where one could read the name used, as well as the email addresses of the various protagonists of this sordid affair.
