A new logo for CF Montreal

Failing to re-adopt the Impact name, CF Montreal will change its logo to respond to the discontent that persists among its supporters.

This is what the Major League Soccer (MLS) organization said in a short statement on Wednesday evening.

“We listened to our “supporters” and our partners, can we read. We will soon unveil a new logo which will be officially used from the 2023 season. This emblem will highlight several elements of our identity and our history.”

The club’s identity change came in January 2021 and it didn’t sit well with everyone. Since then, the Ultras have published an open letter denouncing the situation, acts of vandalism have been committed at Stade Saputo and supporters have expressed their dissatisfaction.

This announcement comes a few weeks after the appointment of Gabriel Gervais as president. He had quickly indicated that the name would not change, but he had opened the door to a logo change.

“If I take a step back, with the echoes that our partners and our “fans” have shared, we have already made a change, said the new trusted man of Joey Saputo. Blue is back in our advertising campaign.”
