Day four of the Metropolitan Table Tennis Circuit in the gymnasiums of the Adolfo López Mateos Sports Unit of the UAEM was a complete success as it brought together 80 players in nine divisions, in the highest level the victory was won by Leonardo Pérez Rubio of Chihuahua.
The contest organized by the Table Tennis Association of the State of Mexico, directed by Edgar Madrigal, continues to be key for the athletes’ warm-up in the face of the commitments of the new season, including the National Games and the National Universiade.
Representatives from various entities attended, including Mexico City, Puebla, Veracruz, Chihuahua and the headquarters (16 representatives from Toluca), who showed their rising level in each game.
Regarding the results, in division one the winner was Leonardo Pérez Rubio from Chihuahua, while the best placed Mexican was Luis González who took third place, a good parameter of the work done in the new season.
Omar Betancourt from Casa Pong (Mexico City) was the winner of division two, second place went to Mario González from Toluca; in the third, Miguel Ferrer Camacho from Tigre Ping Pong in Mexico City climbed to the top of the podium.
Eduardo Ariel López (CDMX) claimed victory in the fourth division, while Daniel Osorio from the Nekoma club (CDMX) achieved first place in the fifth division and Gerardo Pavón Linares in the sixth.
In the seventh division the best place was obtained by Alejandro Francos Mitrani, in the eighth by Vania Juárez and in the ninth by Javier Nek Herrera from the Nekoma club.
After the stoppage of activities due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the table tennis players returned with everything this year to seek to consolidate themselves in this sport as did Jude Okoh (State of Mexico), Guillermo Muñoz (Querétaro) and more recently Tania García and Monserrat Molina, representatives of the UAEM who have been multi-medalists in events such as the National Universiade.
