Archery, Azzurri from today on the pitch for the World Cup in South Korea

After the first stage in Antalya, the World Cup returns with the second appointment scheduled from today until next Sunday (May 22) in Gwangju in South Korea. The hosts, absent in Turkey, will be the most anticipated in a competition that will see a total of 273 archers from 39 countries at the start and among these, also other important nations that will make their debut in the event in stages, such as Japan, China and Malaysia. At the start there will also be 14 Azzurri, who landed in South Korea last Saturday and, after the first training sessions useful to dispose of the time zone, they will try at the home of the Korean masters to repeat the good things done in the first stage of the World Cup, where Nespoli , Paoli and Pasqualucci got the silver, while the blue Andreoli, Boari and Hervat finished in 4th place.

The program

The second stage of the World Cup will start today, Tuesday 17 May, with the 72 arrows of the men’s and women’s compound, at the end of which the scoreboard of the direct matches will be established. Wednesday 18th in the morning the compound team clashes up to the finals for the bronze and immediately afterwards the Olympians will take to the field for the qualifying match. Thursday 19th the first part of the day will be dedicated to the team draw of the recurvo, also in this case up to the assignment of the bronzes, while in the afternoon the compounds will return to the field with the individual challenges up to the quarter-finals. Friday 20 will be the turn of all the mixed team clashes of both the Olympic and the compound, with the exception of the finals for the gold, followed by the individual matches of the recurvo up to the quarterfinals. All the compound finals will be on Saturday, while all the Olympic medals will be awarded on Sunday.

The summoned

In the recurvo, the Olympian Marco Galiazzo (Aeronautica Militare), who completes the men’s team together with Mauro Nespoli (Aeronautica Militare), Alessandro Paoli (Fiamme Azzurre) and David Pasqualucci ( Air Force). Also in the women there is a change with Vanessa Landi who gives way to the blue of Tokyo Chiara Rebagliati (Fiamme Oro), instead the owners of the first stage Karen Hervat (Air Force) and two other athletes in force at the Fiamme return to the field Gold Tatiana Andreoli and Lucilla Boari.

Less crowded than in Antalya, the list of players called up for the compound. Three male and three female archers will descend on the Korean shooting line. Viviano Mior (Kosmos Rovereto) and Federico Pagnoni (Compagnia Arcieri Bresciani), already present at the debut of the outdoor season, will be joined by Sergio Pagni (Arcieri CIttà di Pescia), in the female Marcella Tonioli (Arcieri Montalcino) will lead the team composed also by two young people, but already with a good international experience, Elisa Roner (Kosmos Rovereto) and Paola Natale (Arcieri Cormons).
