Ble Juvecaserta Academy and Pallacanestro Salerno will compete tonight in the sports hall in viale Medaglie d’oro for the Campania 2022 Cup. The two teams respectively won the semifinals with Miwa Energia Benevento and Geko Consulting S.Antimo a plant, the Caserta one, finally reopened to the public after the many vicissitudes linked to the covid emergency and the problems of viability of the structure.
Start was very balanced with Gervasio protagonist in the Neapolitan ranks and a Sammartino to answer him continuously. The first period went on in this way on the level of equality with the Salerno players who with Di Leo and De Angelis collected a 4-0 run at the end of the fourth that allowed them to close the lead on 25-22. Balance also in the second period of play with the defenses that often prevailed over the opponent’s attacks so as to close the set at 16-14 for an overall 41-36 which left the fate of the match wide open. After the long interval, however, Salerno, pushed by a profitable Briniuk, created a first break and at 30 ‘the scoreboard scored an eloquent 63-48. On the wings of the gained advantage, the quintet of coach Menduto tried to control the match, even if Geko tried to reopen the confrontation on several occasions. The direction of Chavez and the conclusions of Melillo did not, however, leave room for the Neapolitans, allowing their team to close on the score of 81-63.
