Brittany Judo Championships: Eden Bilcot among 300 youngest, Sunday in Quimperlé – Quimperlé

500 athletes are expected in the Salle des Cordiers, in Quimperlé, where the 3 Rivers Dojo will install 400 mats to make six competition tatamis. The show will begin on Saturday May 14, with the Brittany Cup for colored belts. 150 judokas from the orange/green and blue/brown categories will do battle from 9:45 a.m. to 1 p.m.; in the afternoon, from 1:45 p.m. to 3:45 p.m., a regional course in jujitsu ne-waza (Brazilian) will be organised. But the flagship event of the weekend will take place on Sunday May 15, with the Criterium de Bretagne des benjamins (born in 2010 and 2011) which will mobilize 300 young judokas.

A champion at home

Member of the 3 rivers dojo and Finistère champion of the youngest under 44 kg, the Cloharsienne Eden Bilcot, 11, will be among the most encouraged. Her trainer, Gwenaël Fléjo, has nothing but praise for her: “Eden is serious on the mat, she works well. It is a solid and applied judoka”. Proof of this was made at the departmental championship where she won all her fights: “I won once by ippon, but also by decision of the referees and by waza-ari”, details the one who started at the age of 4. years. Deprived of championships in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic, she will compete in her first Brittany championship: “The objective is to win. I trained a little more than usual with two or three sessions a week”.

Like all judokas, Eden will follow the usual protocol with weighing in the morning to be registered in the -44 kg table. She will start her fights around 1 p.m. in a packed Cordiers room.
