The Quebec Capitales concluded their three-game inaugural series at Stade Canac by sweeping the Gateway Grizzlies. The crowd favorites prevailed 3-2 on Thursday.
This is the first sweep of the 2022 season for manager Patrick Scalabrini’s men, who were in their fourth series of the season. They have still not lost a single one of these series, winning at least two of the three duels on each occasion.

This sweep also allowed the Belle Province team to climb to first place in the Frontier Baseball League, previously held by the Grizzlies, thanks to a 9-3 record.
In the duel of the day, Marc-Antoine Lebreux gave the victory to his team when he broke a tie at the end of the ninth inning. Two outs had already been recorded by the visitors when the outfielder appeared in front of gunner Colton Easterwood, while Pedro Gonzalez was at second base. Lebreux finally hit a single that allowed his teammate to complete his lap of the trails.
Fans also had to be patient since all the runs, besides the one produced by Lebreux, were scored in the first inning.
Jay Prather first hit a two-run double for the Grizzlies, off starting pitcher Codie Paiva. However, it was his only misstep, allowing only four hits and as many walks, striking out 10 opponents in six innings of work.
For the Capitals, Franklin Parra drove in the first two runs. Also on the first assault, he expelled an offering from Steven Ridings outside the limits of Stade Canac, while Josh McAdams was on the trails. Ridings won’t have much to be ashamed of. Like his counterpart, he was on the mound for six innings and allowed only five hits and a right pass, in addition to making nine Capitals players bite the dust.
They will remain at home for the next weekend, since the Florence Y’alls (3-7) will be in Quebec until Sunday.
