More than 300 judokas of all ages in kimono, applause for every good catch, young referees coached by experienced referees: the artist city cup brought together a dozen clubs from southern Toulouse on Sunday May 1 for a major tournament in the gymnasium. This interclub tournament could not be held for the past two years. Bruno Riot, technical director and teacher at the club, and his entire team were all the more happy to welcome all the amateurs of their discipline. The Torii Judo Club, born in Martres, is experiencing strong growth and has created branches in Aurignac, Aspet and Noé, with the support of valuable local sponsors. From the age of 4 with the awakening of judo to veterans, all, boys and girls, followed one another on the scales then on the tatami under the gaze of young referees, youngest, minimal and cadets themselves engaged in the challenge of the young official. The non-practising brothers and sisters were not forgotten and had fun in the games set up outside. “It’s an individual sport but we fight for our club”. Each participant played his own ranking and received a reward according to the results of his fights, but each also played for his club according to a points system which made it possible to designate the winning club of the Bouclier Martrais at the end of the day. The latter stayed in Martres, at the Torii Judo Club, organizer of the tournament, to the delight of Carole Delga, President of the Region and Loïc Gojard, Mayor of Martres.
