The El Limón Coliseum, located in the Mario Briceño Iragorry municipality of Aragua state, hosted last weekend the National Judo Championship “Karina Carpio Cup” for the children’s categories “A and B” (11-12 and 13-14 years).
A total of 523 athletes representing 19 states of the country participated in the judo championship. Katiuska Santaella, president of the Venezuelan Judo Federation, attended the event held in Aragua.
“This is the first event of the year, where children ´A and B´ were participating. It must be said, we have never had so many children together in an event and I consider it a great success that Judo de Aragua is scored, “said Santaella.
“We have been doing this job of massification and attracting new talent. During the month of July, the National Youth Championship will be held in the cadet and junior categories. We did the check to make up the selection that goes to the XIX Bolivarian Games 2022, which will take place in Valledupar, Colombia from June 24 to July 5, ”he added.
Luis Salinas, president of the IRDA, declared himself excited to be able to receive more than half a thousand athletes at the Coliseum.
“We have the participation of 19 states and we are very excited to continue offering these young people the possibility that they can go to these spaces to practice and demonstrate their skills,” explained Salinas.
However, the actions of judo will not stop and the Venezuelan Judo Federation is already planning the next event that will be the National Youth Championship in the cadet and junior categories in July that will take place in Caracas.
