Colombia, in second place, accumulates 53 medals after three days of competition with 18 gold, 19 silver and 16 bronze. Swimming, Artistic Gymnastics, Olympic Wrestling, Archery and Taekwondo had coffee athletes as main protagonists.
In third place, Argentina with 54 medals (16 gold, 12 silver and 26 bronze). La Albiceleste dominated in tennis getting three of the five gold medals and in Artistic Gymnastics with a total of 14 medals. She also had active participation in Swimming, Rugby 7 (one gold and one silver) and Karate.
Rosario 2022 has delivered a total of 330 medals so far and 11 of the 15 countries have already won a medal. There are still six days of competition remaining and the South American Medal Table will continue to accumulate victories and celebrations that will remain in the memory of future Olympians on the continent.
On Monday, Karate began, then it will continue on Tuesday with Judo, which is presented in its male categories of -55kg and -66kg; meanwhile, women jump onto the tatami in the -44kg and -52kg categories. On Wednesday it will be Futsal’s turn, accelerating on Thursday when the Fan Fest will return and the agenda will add Athletics, in which several Santa Fe residents will participate, Skateboarding, Triathlon, Speed Skating, Badminton, Beach Handball, Boxing, Hockey 5, Fencing and Cycling.
In karate, in the women’s branch +59 kg, Cordoba’s Evelin Díaz Biasizzo became South American Youth Champion and won the gold medal. In the final, she defeated Ecuadorian Jahaira Manrique García 1-0, in a very close fight.
In the elimination round, they beat the Panamanian Alejandra Otero and the Bolivian Carla Dorado 3-0 and tied without points against the Ecuadorian Jahaira García. In the Semifinal, she beat Chilean Danae Guerra 4-0.
In the men’s category +68 kg, in the elimination round, for group A, Francisco Salsench defeated Bolivian Anthony Leyton 4-1, while he lost 1-1 to Uruguayan Tomás Dotta, 3-0 to Colombian Santiago Ospina and 3-1 against Ecuadorian Yael Ordoñez. He failed to advance to the semis.
