INDOSPORT.COM – Indonesian men’s doubles badminton player, Yeremia Rambitan, was reported to have committed disrespectful acts leading to sexual harassment of the 2021 SEA Games volunteers.

The incident began when Yeremia did a live broadcast on his personal TikTok account after the 2021 SEA Games badminton final.

At that time, the Indonesian badminton team was about to return to the country. They also parted with the volunteers who had helped while in Vietnam.

Yeremia Rambitan also gave a farewell speech, but on the sidelines he surprisingly spoke inappropriate words to volunteers.

“I love you, I want f**k you,” said the Pramudya Kusumawardana couple while laughing, which was later found to be aimed at volunteers.

Jeremiah’s action immediately went viral and made netizens angry. He was judged to have sexually harassed verbally even though the context was just a joke.

In response to this problem, PBSI gave a statement of position. Secretary General Muhammad Fadil Imran has given a strong warning to Jeremiah.

The Secretary General of PBSI said that the 22-year-old athlete was very sorry for doing things to hurt other people. Jeremiah is said to have promised not to repeat his actions.

“He said he was sorry, very sorry and would not repeat it again. He meant maybe he was joking, but people’s perceptions are different, those who know Jeremiah really like to joke,” said PBSI Secretary General Muhammad Fadil Imran.

“I think the internal sanctions from the Secretary General have been heavy for him. Moreover, the public already has an assessment and he is aware of it,” he added.
