Georges Niang amazed by the progress of Tyrese Maxey, a potential “All-Star over time”

In the span of two years, Tyrese Maxey has had a meteoric rise in Philadelphia, doubling his points, rebounds and assists stats in his sophomore season, compared to his rookie exercise.

He also went from 8 to 74 games started in the five majors out of his 75 games played in the regular season under the orders of Doc Rivers, and confirmed in the playoffs (20.8 points, 4 assists on average) with memorable performances such as his 38 points from Game 1 of the first round against Toronto.

A course that impressed Georges Niang, who was able to see his evolution at high speed since his arrival last summer, in addition to pulling the group up with his behavior.

“It’s just a pleasure to be with him. Not only is he a fabulous player, he’s an even better person. His energy is contagious. We joke about it in the room wondering if Tyrese has ever had a bad day, because he always rocks his hair, he laughs, he smiles, he shouts”Georges Niang told SiriusXM NBA Radio. “His development this season is something I haven’t seen since I got into basketball. I haven’t been in the NBA long, but just seeing him come in as a rotation the season before and get thrown into the deep end like that. I’m telling you, the only thing I heard in the first three months was Doc (Rivers) yelling “Tyrese! Tyrese! “and which completely destroyed him”.

His playoff campaign was another eye-opener as to his status as a future major player alongside Joel Embiid and James Harden. For Georges Niang, his young teammate can aim very, very high…

“I think we found an All-Star over time”he thus downright dropped on the potential of his comrade. “The kid is so talented, he goes so fast, on both sides of the pitch, he can shoot at a super level and play without the ball. And he continues to work as if he was still fresh out of a major university. He’s just working, and I think it’s going to be another big summer for him. I can’t wait to see where it can take us because when he has the ball in his hands, you can do a lot of things…”
