Gedern (red). The gymnastics club 1889 Gedern looks after 625 members in the areas of handball, judo, table tennis, gymnastics, zumba and volleyball. There was a high turnover in the youth sector when the practice operation was resumed after the Corona break. This was announced by chairman Michael Pohl during the annual general meeting.
The handball players were able to play a full season despite the pandemic. The flagship, the first women’s team of HSG Gedern/Nidda, is currently fighting in a relegation round to stay up in the 3rd Bundesliga. The second women’s team and the first men’s team occupied very good places in the table. The season of the second men’s team suffered greatly from the pandemic: opponents withdrew their teams, games were canceled. Because the hall in Nidda became an emergency accommodation for refugees from the Ukraine, the home games had to be relocated to Konradsdorf.
The youth department of the HSG is particularly proud of the youngest offspring. Six teams could be offered that had not yet taken part in the game. The commitment of the youth trainers has paid off in this area. Five youth teams started with some notable successes.
The table tennis association round was canceled at the beginning of the second half of the season. The department started the season with five men’s and six youth teams. The department has entered into a training cooperation with the TT Academy Main-Kinzig, in which, among other things, trainers are available for the performance groups. In this way, young talents can be intensively promoted. Some Gederner girls represent the Hessian Table Tennis Association in the national comparison this year. In addition, the table tennis players kept up the competition with VR cups. At the end of August, the national table tennis tournament Gedern Open will take place again with up to 300 participants.
The Zumba groups for beginners and advanced meet on Tuesdays in the old gym. Other interested parties are welcome. The volleyball department is booming. Not least because of the commitment of department head and trainer Alexander Koch, many young people come to training. The newly formed mixed team celebrated its first successes in the Hessenliga. A men’s team is to be registered for the coming season.
The Pilates and women’s gymnastics group is happy about a stable number of participants. In the meantime, refugees from the Ukraine are also taking part in the training sessions. Thanks to the easing of the pandemic regulations, the children are gradually coming back to parent-child gymnastics and children’s gymnastics. In the judo division, department manager and trainer Nathalie Lapp is happy about new members. In June there will be another training weekend with two friendly clubs.
Numerous loyal members were awarded. Marvin Müller and Michael Knobloch were honored for 15 years of membership. Alexander Greife, Britta Mohr, Steffanie Dous, Andreas Beck, Katrin Weis, Judith Jobst, Margit Menzel, Susanne Schneider, Helena Jung, Nora Appel and Antje Warnat have all been part of TV for 25 years. Hartmut Becker, Jürgen Oertel and Thorsten Naumann were honored for 40 years of membership. Reinhold Höhne, Hubert Behr, Wolfgang Müller, Bernd Silberling, Roswitha Becker, Ingeborg Behr, Ursula Silberling, Ilse Niebl and Andrea Glaser received an award for 50 years of membership. Manfred Schreiber and Susanne Spielmann have been loyal to TV for 60 years.
The finance department reported a positive result at the end of the year, not least due to the stable membership numbers and lower personnel costs because the practice hours were canceled due to the pandemic. The cash auditors Benedikt Becker and Fabian Orth attested the calculator Karin Haas proper bookkeeping.
