Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do, finished the 61st Jeollanam-do Sports Festival in 13th place overall.
Hwasun-gun announced that it was ranked 13th in the overall ranking by winning 8 gold medals, 10 silver medals, and 6 bronze medals at the 61st Jeollanam-do Athletic Championships, which closed at the Palma Gymnasium in Suncheon on the 23rd.
About 350 athletes participated in 24 sports and won medals in badminton, boxing, swimming, taekwondo, and weightlifting.
Badminton and boxing, the strategic events of Hwasun County, took the first place in each event with 6 gold and 5 silver, showing off their outstanding skills.
Basketball, soccer, and taekwondo took 5th place, respectively, while swimming, billiards, and Baduk took 6th place, respectively, with a total score of 25,513 points, ranking 13th in the overall ranking.
In badminton, women’s doubles players Chae-ran Yoo and Bang Bang-seon (Hwasun County Office), and mixed doubles players Kim Min-sol (Hwasun County Office) and Park Seong-ju (Jeonnam Tech and Science High School 2) took the gold medal. Men’s doubles players Jeong Min-je and Kim Ha-bin (Jeonnam Tech and Science High School 3) unfortunately won silver medals around their necks.
In boxing, Dong-geun Seo (-56 kg), Su-in Park (-75 kg), Jong-jin Kim (-91 kg), and Ji-woong Kim (+91 kg) won gold medals in each weight category, and Hyeon-woo Park (-52 kg), Min-seong Lee (-60 kg), Jin-won Park (-69 kg), Hyeonwook Seon (-81 kg) won a silver medal in each weight class.
In the swimming, brothers Koh Young-woong and Ko Young-hyo took 1 gold medal and 3 silver medals in individual swimming, and Ko Young-woong, Jang Jin, Choi Hyun-seok and Ko Young-hyo took two silver medals in the relay and medley relay.
In Taekwondo, male and female athletes won 5 bronze medals, including 1 gold medal for Yeo Young-min, who participated in the men’s-58 kg class, for a total of 6 medals.
In the weightlifting +109kg class, Sejong Choi took the bronze medal and added a precious medal.
