Iván Segura reaches the world elite: he achieves his first international medal in Bahrain

Iván Segura is already in the elite of world para badminton, having won his first international medal at the Bahrain International. The very young volantista from Granada has put the Spanish accent on the podium of the Bahraini competition, which has brought together the best rackets in the world in a top-level tournament, by hanging the bronze in the men’s doubles event of the SH 6 class.

At 17 years old, Segura, the last Spaniard remaining in the Bahraini tournament, competed in said event as a couple with Frenchman Maxime Greboval. After a vibrant competition, in the semifinals they faced the Hong Kong couple made up of Chu Man Kai and Wong Chun Yim, double world champions who started as the main favorites to win gold.

The Asian couple imposed their status as favorites to dominate the match from start to finish, as they did not give the Spanish-French tandem of Segura and Greboval an option. Moreover, despite the impetus with which the Europeans fought, the Hong Kongers managed to win 21-5 and 21-4 in 22 minutes.

???? Schedules and results of the Bahrain Parabadminton International.

Good balance of the Spanish team

In the individual and mixed doubles events of the SU 5 class, Cristina Sánchez de Lechina competed, who has completed her second participation in an international tournament in Bahrain. The rancher continues to gain experience while she continues to grow as an athlete.

In the wheelchair events, Francisco Motero stood out in mixed doubles, where he reached the quarterfinals, as did Ignacio Fernández. These could not shine in singles, staying in the group stage.

Finally Jordi Carrión has competed the best he could given the circumstances. And it is that the airline Saudia Airlines has lost the sports chair of the Ibense, who has competed with the chair lent by Francisco Motero, which implied that the referee judge had to modify their schedules so that they did not coincide.
