Latvia’s opponent Norway has taken the lead in the world championship with the Ulimb brothers

The 36-year-old Matiss became the most successful player of the Norwegian national team in the world championships at the championship held in Riga last year. The youngest brother, Ken Andre, who turned 33 in January, was the national team’s top scorer in the previous year’s Olympic qualifiers.

This year, the only member of the National Hockey League (NHL), Matt Ducarello, who is fighting for the Stanley Cup in Minnesota, will not help the national team. There is one player in the Norwegian ranks with NHL experience – Andreas Martinsen, who played 152 games for the Montreal Canadiens and Chicago Blackhawks from 2015 to 2019.

Head coach Peter Touren will work in his fifth world championship. Norway will be the third opponent of the Latvian national team in subgroup B, where the USA, Sweden, Finland, the Czech Republic, Great Britain and Austria will also compete in Tampere.

It will play its first match against Finland on Friday.

The World Hockey Championship will take place from May 13 to 29.
