the german player Leonie Fiebich, 22 years old and 1.93 meters tall, will reinforce the perimeter of Casademont Zaragoza until June 30, 2023. It is an emerging value, with numerous arguments, who is distinguished above all by his offensive ability and who has developed most of his career in the German League, always emitting very positive signals in his game. He now joins the Aragonese club from French Les Flammes Carolo, where the forward has competed last season.
Fiebich trained at DJK Landsberg, his hometown club, although he started professionally at Jahn Munich, where he stayed for two exercises. In the first (2016-17), the German registered 12.1 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game; and a year later, in the 2017-18 season, the forward raised her statistics to 16.2 points, 7.4 catches and 2.1 basket passes per game.
Later, Leonie Fiebich continued her career at Wasserburg (2018-19), a team with which she was named the best debutant player in the Bundesliga. He did it after obtaining figures of 10.3 points, 8 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. However, his progress was momentarily halted later, due to a major injury that occurred with the German under-19 team, against the United States, in the quarterfinals of the World Cup in the category, and which separated him from the tracks in the 2019-20 season. In fact, the German broke the cruciate ligament in her knee and that course she only participated in 14 games. Despite everything, she was drafted by the Los Angeles Sparks of the WNBA in April 2020. In the following exercise, in the Wasserburg ranks, Fiebich contributed 13.9 points, 8 rebounds and 17.1 PIR credits per duel.
Already in the 2021-22 academic year, the German competed with Flammes Carlo Basket, a team from the French town of Charleville-Mézières. There he played the gala competition and the Eurocup. In the domestic tournament, Fiebich averaged 5.1 points and 3.4 rebounds in the average quarter of an hour he spent on the court; and the continental championship, the forward had 6.4 points and 4.1 sacks in 21 minutes of play. A regular on the German national team, the foreign player won the silver medal in the European U16 and gold in the U18. She debuted with the senior team, in which she is a regular, in the month of October 2018.
“Fiebich comes to cover the position of big forward”, explains the Casademont Zaragoza coach, Carlos Cantero, who recalls that she is “a player of great size and with a good hand for shooting from outside”. Likewise, the forward “is capable of doing different things in attack”, apart from providing “versatility in defense”, and also stands out for “his youth, his great potential and his intelligence” on the court.
From the previous season, María Kostourkova, María Bettencourt and Antonia Delaire are leaving Casademont Sierra Calhoun. On the contrary, continues the coach, Carlos Cantero, and the players Lara González, Vega Gimeno, Aminata Sangaré and Merrit Hempe. The squad has also been reinforced with forwards Helena Oma and Leonie Fiebich, center Serena-Lynn Geldof, shooting guard Imani Tate and guards Mariona Ortiz and Carmen Grande.
