Major League Baseball: two players suspended

Major League Baseball announced on Tuesday that it has suspended pitchers Matt Harvey and JC Mejia over doping allegations.

The former, who is a member of the Baltimore Orioles, received a 60-game penalty for participating in the distribution of a major league banned drug. The 33-year-old veteran admitted to using cocaine in New York and California while in federal court last February.

Harvey signed a minor league contract with the Orioles and has yet to play in 2022.

Meanwhile, Mejia was suspended for 80 games after testing positive for the performance-enhancing drug stanozolol. The Milwaukee Brewers gunner appeared in two games this season and posted an ERA of 23.14.
