This has been announced by the Deputy for Sports, Christopher Ortega, together with the national wheelchair basketball coordinator of the Spanish Sports Federation for People with Physical Disabilities (FEDDF), Miguel Angel Garcia, and AMIVE club representativesL Reyes Gutierrez, During the presentation of a conference “essential for two of the most ambitious bets of the Diputación de Málaga: bringing high-level sports competitions to the province and promoting the practice of adapted sports”, Ortega highlighted, recalling that the Diputación de Malaga launched the ‘Adapted to Sport’ program in 2018 to promote sports practice among people with functional diversity in the province of Malaga through an extensive program of activities.
“Sport plays a fundamental role in integration and offers people with disabilities a clear improvement in different aspects such as rehabilitation, favors autonomy, helps social integration and promotes the desire for personal improvement”, said Ortega, who has celebrated that the province of Malaga is once again the venue for a competition of such a high level as this Copa del Rey wheelchair basketball.
The eight clubs participating in the cup, from all over the national scene, are Bidaideak Bilbao BSR, CD Ilunion, UCAM Murcia BSR, BSR ACE Gran Canaria, Mideba Extremadura, Iberconsa AMFIV, BSR AMIAB Albacete and AMIVEL Reyes Gutiérrez.
On May 21, Vélez-Málaga will host the meetings Mideba Extremadura-Iberconsa AMFIV and BSR AMIAB Albacete-AMIVEL Reyes Gutiérrez, and in Malaga the Bidaideak Bilbao BSR-CD Ilunion and UCAM Murcia BSR-BSR ACE Gran Canaria. The semifinals and the final will be played in Malaga on May 22, and the final will be broadcast on Teledeporte.
