Milan Scudetto, the Maldini breed is back

Reggio Emilia

AC Milan has just locked the Italian League title this season. Along with this success, the Maldini Family has also continued the tradition of winning from generation to generation.

Milan managed to finish first by collecting 86 points, two points ahead of Inter Milan in second position. The Rossoneri’s 19th title was sealed by a convincing 3-0 win over Sassuolo in the last week, last Sunday (22/5/2022).

In the Milan squad that won the Scudetto, Daniel Maldini’s name tucked away. The youngest son of Paolo Maldini has penetrated the Il Diavolo Rosso main squad since February 2020, but has only been given more opportunities this season.

Although not the first choice, Daniel appeared eight times in Serie A and scored one crucial goal. His header against Spezia last September led Milan to a 2-1 win.

Daniel’s success in winning the Scudetto made the Maldini Family’s contribution to Milan continue. Three different generations were able to donate the trophy.

The late Cesare Maldini who was Daniel’s grandfather was Milan’s captain when they won the Champions Cup in 1963. In addition, he also gave four Scudetto to the Rossoneri.

Paolo’s career was more successful. Uniforming Milan in 1984-2009, he was able to win 25 trophies, including seven Scudetto and five Cup / Champions League. Since 2019, he has been the club’s technical director.

Thus, the Milan Scudetto title this season cannot be separated from the role of the Maldini Family. While Paolo works behind the scenes supporting coach Stefano Pioli’s needs, Daniel is ready to go up and down following the allenatore’s instructions on the pitch.
