Million record for Haching: Why BVB makes a fourth division rich

Million record for Haching
Why BVB makes a fourth division rich

Borussia Dortmund continues to massively restructure its squad for the coming season and grabs the third German national soccer player. Karim Adeyemi comes from RB Salzburg and should help close the Haaland vacuum. This is fantastic news for his former club.

SpVgg Unterhaching is one of the big winners on the transfer market this Tuesday. The regional league football club, which once prevented Bayer Leverkusen from winning the championship, collects at least six million euros, and the sum may increase to up to eight million euros. The money comes from Borussia Dortmund. BVB announced the transfer of national player Karim Adeyemi in the afternoon. He comes from RB Salzburg and is part of the solution to compensate for the departure of Erling Haaland. The giant from Norway is moving to Manchester City, Dortmund will receive 75 million euros.

It is not officially known how much money Borussia will have to pay for their 20-year-old newcomer. However, the sum should be just under 30 million euros. The sum can be calculated because of an ad hoc announcement from Adeyemi’s youth club SpVgg Unterhaching. The club announced in the evening that due to the corresponding clauses in the contract between the game association and the Red Bull team from 2018, it would now participate generously in the resale. There is a fixed sum of six million euros, another two million are conceivable for unspecified successes. In addition, there are millions more if BVB should resell Adeyemi.

This is not planned in the foreseeable future. The fast and tricky striker has signed for five years in the Ruhr area. And in Dortmund they are already singing the high hymn of anticipation for the three-time DFB player: “Karim Adeyemi is a highly talented, young German national player whose strength will look just as good at the end of our offensive game as his extreme pace,” enthused sports director Michael Zorc . After central defenders Niklas Süle (FC Bayern) and Nico Schlotterbeck (SC Freiburg), the 20-year-old is the third current national player who will strengthen the runners-up in the coming season.

President Manfred Schwabl, a former football professional (including FC Bayern, 1. FC Nuremberg and 1860 Munich) with four appearances for Germany, had once bagged the rain of millions for the fourth division club – it should be a record sum for the league. According to various media reports, he had been assured of a stable resale clause of 22 or 22.5 percent. He did not want to give exact figures, “but it will be of a magnitude that will open up completely different possibilities for the future for Haching, both economically and structurally,” Schwabl told the magazine “Euro am Sonntag” last fall.

The rise of the player Adeyemi is rapid: After leaving the game association, he played in Austria within three years from the Salzburg farm team, FC Liefering, to the Red Bull team and this season he was enthusiastic in the Champions League, among other places. Adeyemi was a three-time doubles winner with RB, European U21 champion and made his debut for the senior national team under Hansi Flick in September 2021. As a joker, he scored in added time against Armenia. “As a little boy, I was fascinated by black and yellow speed football,” said Adeyemi. “That’s why it quickly became clear to me that I would like to switch to BVB when I found out about the interest.”
