NBA Draft 2022, will Chet Holmgren be the first overall pick?

Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report talks about the plans of the Orlando Magic, who came out as winners of the Draft Lottery.

Many experts believe the team will focus on Jabari Smith, an Auburn winger with remarkable ballistics and defensive potential.

The reporter, however, explains that according to several NBA insiders the Magic could shift their attention to Chet Holmgren.

The big man from Gonzaga has characteristics that the Orlando Front Office has often bet on in the past. Jeff Weltman and John Hammond, the duo who lead the team, at the time of the Bucks insisted on choosing Giannis Antetokounmpo and other athletes with very long arms and defensive skills such as Thon Maker and John Henson. Also in Florida the duo has focused on players like Jonathan Isaac and Mo Bamba.

Holmgren has everything to become a phenomenal presence to protect his basket, while in attack he has long-range shots and excellent vision of the game. The only doubts are about its ability to add muscle mass on a rather slender physical frame. He otherwise he would be the clear favorite for the much sought after first overall pick.

In his freshman year in Gonzaga the big man produced 14.1 points, 9.9 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 3.7 blocks, shooting with 60% from the field, 39% from three and 71% from free throws.
