Normandin: Return of a complete sports offer this summer

The town of Normandin is finally back this summer with a full range of activities after two years when sporting events were slow. A total of 6 activities will be offered to the public during the summer season, including some new ones.

« It feels good to come back with a complete and varied offer. Last year, we wanted to do a relaunch, but the registrations were not there. This year, the registrations were not yet open that I had started to receive several telephone calls from parents wanting to register their young people in a sport”, mentions the person in charge of communications, recreation and culture at Normandin, Julie Fortin.

Thus, for this summer, we find the classic summer sports, soccer and baseball.

The municipality added basketball this year, a sport that is gaining popularity in the Normandin sector.

“We will offer basketball for young people aged 6 to 15, but also for 16 and over. It is expected that the addition of this activity will make many happy and a good turnout is expected. We believe we can pick up several of the high school kids who are part of the team. »

Kick-boxing is also a brand new activity that will be offered this season.

“It is an activity that we are trying this year. We have the person in charge of this sport, Christophe Sautron, who approached us with this. It will be reserved for 14 years and over. »

Swimming lessons at the Chute à l’Ours tourist site will be back.

“It must be almost 7 years since we last offered swimming there. Currently, we still have details to confirm about this activity. Details will be posted on our Facebook page. »

Varied offer

The variety of the offer proposed to the population seems to please. At least, we are happy on the Normandin side with what we have put in place for the summer season.

“We feel that people and young people are eager to be able to move. We expect to have about twenty registrations in each category of all these sports. A real return to normal. »

Others

In addition, the day camp will be back this summer. Activities and outings are back after having had to be canceled in recent years.

“Finally, we will also have a community choir that will set up in the municipality. We see that people are happy to be able to get involved in a choir like that, without just singing songs ofIT’Sslip. »

Registrations are open until May 13.
