This Saturday the Adolfo Suárez pavilion hosted the XXIII Judo Games ‘Los Mayos’, which brought together about 250 judokas from the Region. Some games in which the athletes of the Alhama Judo Club achieved 12 medals (5 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze).
The event was organized by the Judo Federation, with the collaboration of the Alhama de Murcia City Council and was attended by David Romar, President of the Federation and Rosa Sánchez, Councilor for Sports.
Of the excellent results of the Alhameño judokas, it is worth highlighting the first places obtained by Daniela Pagán and Caroline Houdusse in the juvenile category and those of Carla Romar, Aurora López and Sofía Piquer in the prebenjamín-mini category.
In the afternoon session, about 50 judokas participated in a fun exhibition where the attending families and friends were able to see the techniques and exercises performed by the young athletes. Before finishing their performance, the “judokas” received a surprise from the regional Kendo team, who gave a demonstration of this martial art (the discipline of Kendo is part of the Judo Federation). Even some of the young judoka were able to practice with the “shinai” (the bamboo sword used in kendo).
