A soccer referee was attacked on a pitch during a high-level Provincial Development League game involving youngsters as young as 14.
The unsightly scene, which circulates on social networks, was filmed. We see an individual yelling at the referee in an aggressive manner, then approaching with a determined step towards him.
It was then that the referee, who seemed quite young, pushed the man away. He responds by punching her in the face.
A parent then intervenes and tackles the aggressive individual. The match is then stopped and foul language is exchanged between several people.
The event occurred on Saturday afternoon when the Saint-Laurent team hosted Celtix du Haut-Richelieu. The game was played on a synthetic field in Dollard-des-Ormeaux, on the island of Montreal.
According to our information, an equalizing goal would be at the origin of the anger of the individual.
At the time of writing these lines, Soccer Quebec had still not reacted to the incident.
