The youngest judoka of the Dojo du Couserans Léa Claverie achieved a great performance by winning a silver medal at the regional judo criterium.
A few days before the selections of the western zone which took place in Tarbes, Léa fractured her little toe. Despite everything, she showed up for registration. A second test awaited her when she stepped on the scale: for 350 g she was forced to change category, going from under 32 kg to under 36 kg. Léa did not allow herself to be disturbed and still brilliantly won the competition by beating all her opponents by ippon before the end of regulation time.
In Mèze, during the regional criterium, Léa finished first in her elimination group. In tableau, she repeated the same performance by beating each of her opponents by ippon before the end of regulation time. In the final, Léa took the lead by attacking with a shoulder technique (moroté), which strategically could have allowed her to win the fight against an opponent much larger than her. Unfortunately, in the middle of the confrontation, the young Couserannaise made a strategic error by placing her arm behind her opponent’s back to try to throw her with a hip technique (ogoshi). When she tried her technique, her opponent, taller, only had to push with her pelvis to block the attack and unbalance her, before winning by immobilizing her on the ground.
Léa was therefore ranked vice-champion of the FFJDA 2022 regional criterium. Next June, she will fight at the French FSGT championship, in Sin-le-Noble in the North, to try to win a second title: in 2018 , Léa had been crowned champion of France in the chick category.
