The mayor, Luis Salaya, has proposed to the municipal corporation that the Cáceres Medal, the highest award given by the city, be awarded this year to the now-defunct Cáceres Basketball Club (CB), on the 30th anniversary of his promotion to the ACB.

Salaya recalled that this Tuesday “we are commemorating an important event; perhaps the most relevant sporting event in our city. We celebrate the promotion of Cáceres de Baloncesto to the ACB”. “Thirty years have passed since the Plaza Mayor was filled with people wanting to congratulate the team, and the pavilion of the Ciudad Deportiva de Cáceres was a hive of collective enthusiasm”.

Today, according to Salaya, “we not only remember a sporting promotion; that was much more. It was a collective learning exercise that we can be able to achieve what we want if we share goals, dreams and desires. 39 years later, our city remembers that moment with emotion and admiration”.

For this reason, for the councilor from Cáceres “it is fair to recognize it, and hence I have transferred to the municipal spokespersons my willingness to submit to the consideration of the corporation the recognition of this team with the highest decoration in the city, such as the Medal of Caceres”.
