Wieland only took over LASK last September after separating from Dominik Thalhammer. Under the leadership of the 38-year-old, the Upper Austrians wintered in the Europa Conference League, but in the league LASK missed the top six championship group for the first time since the league reform. Kühbauer was released in November 2021 after just over three years as Rapid coach.
