Sponsorship Program | Talents are encouraged

The SportRegion Stuttgart supports the campaign “Olympic Base Stuttgart – Team Paris” of the Promotion Society of the Olympic Base (OSP) Stuttgart. The aim of the campaign is for as many of the players supported by the OSP Stuttgart as possible to qualify for the Olympic and Paralympic Summer Games, which will take place in Paris in 2024. In this context, the sponsorship model of the SportRegion Stuttgart has existed for almost two decades, within the framework of which selected athletes are specifically promoted. The Olympic participants Tobias Unger (athletics), Tabea Alt (gymnastics) and Michaela Baschin (judo) as well as the Paralympics winners Niko Kappel (para-athletics) and Maria Kühn (wheelchair basketball) have already gone through this program.

While in the past there were usually six talents who were supported at the same time, the SportRegion board has now decided to double the number of scholarships from six to twelve. The contract was signed on Monday (May 23, 2022) in Stuttgart during the board meeting of the SportRegion Stuttgart. “These young people are ambassadors for the Stuttgart region”, says Matthew Klopferthe chairman of the SportRegion Stuttgart and mayor of Esslingen am Neckar: “I am therefore very pleased that even more top athletes than before will benefit from our funding project in the future.” Regional Court Regina WagnerDeputy Chairwoman of the SportRegion Stuttgart, emphasizes the intermunicipal aspect: “It is important to us that talented people from different districts in the Stuttgart region benefit from the project.” It is expressed in a similar way Gunter H. FahrionPresident of the Württemberg Lawn Power Sports and Tug-of-War Association and Deputy Chairman of the SportRegion Stuttgart: “When making the selection, care was taken to ensure that not just one or two, but numerous different sports were taken into account.”

Thomas FuhryPresident of the Promotion Society of the OSP Stuttgart, is pleased about the commitment: “The SportRegion Stuttgart is an important partner for us. She’s been bringing herself for nearly two decades into the program, this loyalty is exemplary.” Tim Lamsfuß, the head of the OSP Stuttgart, points out how challenging the situation is for the athletes supervised by the OSP: “It is not always easy to combine sporting activities with professional or school training. That’s why it’s important to have reliable partners like the SportRegion, which has been supporting us for many years now.”
