From Friday 20 May to Sunday 22 May 2022, the “Paolo Colosimo” Regional Institute, in collaboration with the “GSD Colosimo” association, will host the National Showdown meeting in Naples. Showdown (a sport similar, in some respects, to ping pong) is practiced worldwide by blind and visually impaired athletes and has had a significant increase in members in recent years.
The FISPIC (Italian Federation of Paralympic Sports for the visually impaired and the blind, reference in Italy for sports activities aimed at visually impaired people) has decided to make use of the collaboration of the Paolo Colosimo Institute of Naples and of the GSD Colosimo which in the past have already shown high levels of organizational skills in the fields of the various disciplines (Torball, Goalball, 5-a-side football, Judo). The meeting will be organized over 3 days with the athletes who will carry out the planned athletic and technical preparation interspersed with tactical and psychological in-depth sessions.
The event is part of a European context as it will host the federal technicians of the national team and the most promising athletes who will soon represent the blue colors in Finland at the “European Para Youth Games”, the European Paralympic competitions that will take place from 27 June to July 4, 2022.
For some time now, two athletes from Campania, users of the Colosimo, have also been called up in the national team, a source of pride for the clubs to which they belong and for the whole of Campania in general. The Campania Region Authority must certainly be recognized, over the years, the full support of the “Paolo Colosimo” Institute for which we thank the current Governor Vincenzo De Luca and the Councilor for Social Policies, Sport and Education , Lucia Fortini, for their active support to the proposed activities.
