Laguna Negra will take advantage of the tournament it organizes this weekend to pay, together with Tudela HC, a heartfelt tribute to Daniel Giménez, who died on April 10 in a traffic accident.
The 37-year-old player from Navarra arrived at the Soriano club in the 2017-2018 season to reinforce the senior club from the veterans of Tudela HC together with Miky.
The following season he left the entity to return to AD Lagunak in Pamplona, a team in which he played in lower categories and returned to the Northern League after 6 years.
The 2019-2020 season returned to Laguna Negra where he played until last season.
This season he asked the club to delay his incorporation to the following season since he had to undergo surgery at the beginning of October and he wanted to fully recover.
With this weekend’s tournament, the club wants to pay tribute to a charismatic and cheerful player who is very loved by all his teammates.
One of the participating teams is Tudela HC, a club where Daniel also played on the Veterans team and with whom he collaborated as a coach.
Two classic teams complete the tournament, Hogares Mundet from Barcelona and Pucela Hockey from Valladolid, who have participated in all editions of the tournament since the 2014-2015 season.
The tournament was also going to have the participation of a classic team, CP Cibeles de Oviedo, the legendary Asturian club was well known in the 70s and 80s until its disappearance in 1987. The person in charge of the team got in touch with the club from Soria to inform them that due to several casualties they would not be able to participate and that they hoped to be able to play a friendly in the future.
The competition will begin at 9:00 in the morning and will consist of two Phases, the morning phase will be in league mode all against all in one round, while the afternoon phase will be in cup mode with semifinals and final. The crossings will be marked depending on the classification of the morning.
Before the final, the club will hold an act in memory of Daniel together with Tudela HC.
