After years of work and coordination between the Peruvian Sports Federation of Badminton and the relevant authorities, the inclusion of badminton in the event aimed at schoolchildren from all over Peru was finally made official. In this first edition, students from categories B (13 and 14 years old) and C (15, 16 and 17 years old) will participate.
The National School Sports Games and Para sports develop learning spaces for students through the most recognized social practice, sport. In this way they get the person to start an active and healthy life for her well-being.
In that sense, there are several benefits of badminton that have been studied worldwide. We will mention some that are included in Shuttle Time, a development program promoted by the BWF:
It helps weight loss and control due to its qualities to increase fat burning and activate metabolism. Combined with a proper diet, the results are optimal.
Playing badminton continuously helps maintain good cardiovascular health, as it conditions and strengthens the coronary muscle, reducing hypertension and limiting the risk of clogging of blood vessels.
The stage called Educational Institution will be the beginning of the inclusion of badminton in the National School Sports Games and Para sports. In this first period, which will last until June 25, the schools will carry out the internal selection of those who will represent them in the following stages: UGEL, Regional, Macro Regional and National.
With this great step that has been taken, the Peruvian Sports Federation of Badminton will continue its work of promoting and massifying this sport through schools. Currently, in addition to being played in Lima, badminton is also present in Piura, Trujillo, Ayacucho, Arequipa, Tingo María, Tacna and Junín.
