More than 800 people make up the delegation from the University of Guadalajara (UdeG) that will participate in the 2022 National Universiade, which will be hosted by the Autonomous University of Ciudad Juarez (UACJ) from May 13 to June 2.

“They have made us extremely proud.. Last year for the first time we obtained first place in the medal table at the 2021 National Universiade and that is a real source of pride, with 72 gold, 69 silver and 63 bronze medals; this is 214 medals”.

He said that the 2022 National Universiade will bring together more than 9 thousand athletes from 150 public and private higher education institutions throughout the country, in which great students will participate who also do double or triple shifts, because in addition to studying and training, they work; therefore, their great effort is to be admired.

Both Villanueva Lomelí and Castellanos Gutiérrez recognized the effort of the Coordinator of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the CGSU, Dr. Georgina Contreras de la Torre and Dr. Juan Ricardo López y Taylor.
Contreras de la Torre announced that the climbing team will not compete in Ciudad Juarez but in Cancun, due to a question of infrastructure to carry out the competitions.
The Head of the High Performance Unit of the Physical Culture Coordination of the CGSU, Mr. Quetzalcóatl Oregel, said that the UdeG will have a presence in all sports disciplines, with the exception of basketball and tenniswhere the athletes failed to qualify.
“The first to go into activity will be the judo, indoor volleyball and soccer teams. We have good expectations, they are well prepared. Unfortunately we haven’t had much opportunity to analyze the rivals, but the goal is to place ourselves in the first two places”, he indicated.
The competition program includes the disciplines of chess, athletics, basketball, badminton, baseball, university boxing, fencing, association football, soccer, aerobics, handball, judo, karate do, university wrestling, weightlifting, taekwondo, tennis, rugby sevens, archery, tochito, sport climbing, 3×3 basketball, indoor volleyball, beach volleyball, table tennis and softball.
