The Vienna Vikings narrowly beat the Salzburg Ducks 14:13 on Saturday evening, for Salzburg it was the third loss in a row.
Again it wasn’t enough for a win and again they were in the lead at half time.
Too many mistakes from Salzburg
Turnovers and fumbles in the first half meant that the Ducks needed some time to get into the game. In return, the Vikings benefited from the many mistakes made by the guests and then used one of the opportunities to lead 7:0. Finally the Ducks got a button and they set the score to 13:7. After halftime, the Ducks Defense was able to convince again and keep the Vikings out of the end zone. The offense, weakened by an injury to WR Noah Touré, was able to pave the way towards the end zone with their strong running game. After a long drive and 4 minutes left on the clock, you had the chance to carry the ball to the TD on the 1 yard line.
Unfortunately, this failed three times and an attempt was made to create a 2-score game using a field goal. But once again luck was not on the Ducks’ side and this chance was missed. In return, the Vikings brought their first constant offensive drive of the day onto the field and, with the clock running out, were able to achieve the decisive TD including an extra point for the final score of 13:14 from the Ducks’ point of view.
