Villa Rivadavia shouted champion in a final with serious incidents

Villa Rivadavia de Mercedes became champion of the Men’s Provincial Tournament of First Division Clubs, organized by the Correntina Football Federation (Fecof). Yesterday he matched the series playing as a visitor at the Agustín Faraldo stadium, beating Puente Seco de Paso de los Libres 3-0, and on penalties he was more effective to win 4-2 and win the “Juan Carlos Espinosa” Cup in quarrel.

The second leg had all the ingredients of a “hot” final. The visiting team, which had lost 0-3 a week ago in Mercedes, went for the heroic, and managed to give the blow based on game and claw.

The start of the game was delayed because the bus that was transporting the visiting delegation punctured two covers, and the players were arriving at the stadium in private cars.

The Mercedeños, who recovered four players who had been suspended, entered determined to look for the goal in front of an opponent who leaned dangerously close to his goalkeeper. The parity was broken around half an hour, when a free kick passed found Ferreyra, who touched back for defender Juan Pereyra to appear, one of the heroes of the final, who made it 1-0.

At the end of the first half, Pereyra went to ask the referee for an explanation for a warning received. At that moment, a technical assistant from Puente Seco hit the DT of Villa Rivadavia, lighting the fuse of the incidents.

The visiting fans invaded the field of play breaking a gate, seeking to “revenge” the aggression received by the Villa Rivadavia coach, which led to the intervention of security agents, generating a hubbub that ended with players being beaten and some fans arrested. These were not transfers to police headquarters, as they would later end up incredibly released before the match resumed.

When everything calmed down, it was learned that the referee expelled Hugo Maidana, leaving the visit outnumbered. In spite of everything, Villa Rivadavia continued in search of the rival goal, and had their prize in a somewhat fortuitous way. A free kick executed by Fabio Leoguera from long distance, slipped through the hands of the local goalkeeper, reviving the chances of the Mercedeños.

The feat was completed before the end, when Juan Pereyra pushed a corner “in a hurry” to make it 3-0 and force penalties.

In the tiebreaker, Ojeda, Meza, Azcona and Leoguera scored for the Mercedeños from the penalty spot, while Vallejos’ shot hit one of the pipes. For Puente Seco Avalos and Gómez scored. Santiago Gómez missed and Tarabini’s execution was contained by visiting goalkeeper Ramón Gómez.

Against all odds, the Mercedeños from the San Ramón neighborhood won an incredible match, celebrated the title, and will occupy the Fecof spot for the 2022 Regional Federal Amateur tournament.
