Villarreal: Rulli was not up to the task

Ehe Villarreal dreams of coming back from the tie against Liverpool and getting into a Champions League final for the first time in its history. This is how the match is going, player by player, of the yellow submarine.

He was bad in all three goals, especially in the first and third. He was decisive with his dubious interventions in the fate of Villarreal.

Very aware of that defensive work, without incorporations in attack. He controls Robertson’s appearances. Impeccable in his main function, that of defending.

He had no major problems in individual duels. Correct game, he couldn’t do anything about Liverpool’s goals.

The best of the Emery team. He is a leader in defense and with great power of anticipation. Forceful, safe and fast in his actions. At a very high level. So much so that Luis Enrique should count on him for future commitments of the national team. Right now there are few centers with this performance.

Great center in the goal of Boulaye Dia. He was a dagger in the first half but a hole was opened in his band in the second act. From more to less, like all his companions.

Assistant in the two yellow goals, inadvertently in the first. Completed a spectacular first half but, like the rest of the team, ran out of steam after passing through the changing rooms. He ended up expelled for two very fair yellow cards.

With little weight in the game. The rhythm of the crash was not the one that suited him. Overtaken by rapid transitions. The team missed their match control.

One of the pillars of the great first half of his team. Enormous physical display, successful with the ball and author of a great goal that he made believe in the feat. It was the first change midway through the second half.

From less to more. Protagonist in the controversial action of the match as the victim of a possible Alisson penalty. With a lot of personality with the ball and showing up in the most delicate moments. He disappeared in the second half.

Work party but not very bright. Forced to stay and lasted almost 70 minutes on the field. His contribution was little more than testimonial. It was noted that he arrived physically very fair.

The great protagonist, author of the first goal. Very dynamic and throwing unchecks throughout the attack front. He started with a lot of prominence but ended up completing a discreet match.

It was, along with Chukwueze, Emery’s first solution to Liverpool’s reaction. He couldn’t turn the tide of the match.

He came in for Gerard Moreno but could not put his speed at the service of the team. Inconsequential and without options to test behind ‘network’.

He appeared in the final minutes but barely came into contact with the ball.

Another of the changes of the final minutes. Voluntary but without great individual actions.

I came in to try to offer Villarreal more depth in their game but the game and the tie were already broken. Difficult ballot in a few minutes.
