100 days before the start of the Vuelta a España, the organization has delivered a jersey to the mayor of Utrecht, Sharon Dijksma
In the midst of the Giro d’Italia, the Vuelta a España has revealed what the jersey designed expressly for the start from the Netherlands will be like. Designed by Mattijs van Bergen and contains the logos of the cities (Breda, ‘s-Hertogenbosch and Utrecht) and the provinces (Utrecht and North Brabant) involved in the official departure from the Netherlands.
Taking advantage of the fact that there are 100 days left before the start of the Vuelta a España, the organization has delivered a red jersey to the mayor of Utrecht, Sharon Dijksma.
Joop Zoetemelk, embajador
The act, in addition, has had the presence of the legendary Joseph ‘Joop’ Zoetemelk, the last Dutchman who won the Vuelta a España and who has acted as ambassador. Professional between 1970 and 1987, he was nicknamed ‘The Dutchman of the Tour de France’, as he was second six times. He also won the World Championship in 1985.
During his 18 years as a professional, he brought together a meritorious record, even more so when he coincided in the peloton with two capos such as Eddy Merckx Bernard Hinault.
