TIJUANA.- The winning streak of Zorros Femenil de CETYS Universidad continues in the 2022 ABE League Season and now it will be their turn to face Felinas de Universidad de La Salle Bajío again, which will be this Saturday, May 7 at 1:00 p.m.
This duel will take place in the “Zonkeys” Auditorium of the “Unisantos” Sports Complex in Tijuana, as part of a series of activities dedicated to the institution. Fernanda Gil, a member of the team, considered that it will be a great opportunity for the basketball fans.
“It’s familiar ground for us,” Gil said. We’ve already had a lot of games there and we’re comfortable on the court and at the rim. This is a matter of trust and hard work. Each one of us knows how to exploit her own talent, but at the end of it all, it’s just one team with the same goal”.
Last weekend two more victories were added that put the quintet with a 6-0 mark, leading the North Conference and the General Table of the competition. First over Linces de la UVM Querétaro by 64-60, with Daryana Díaz being the best scorer for the locals with 19 points. Great response from fans who filled the “Rodrigo Valle Hernández” Gymnasium-Auditorium.
“I expected very tough games but we have been very disciplined and respectful of each rival team. We are a group of colleagues who do not give up, trying to finish the day with a good result,” added Díaz.
The next day they beat Borregas Tec Campus Querétaro 88-46 on the same stage with Fernanda Gil and her 18 units, followed by Paula Guzmán with 14 who extended the call to reach the nicknamed “Zonkey Territory”.
“We invite all basketball fans to see us play, CETYS and La Salle. I think the atmosphere is going to be very cool and hopefully the CETYS Community makes itself felt in the stands”, concluded Guzmán.
The “Zonkeys” Auditorium was inaugurated on May 24, 2019 and has capacity for more than 2,500 spectators. Zorros Femenil, guided by César Valencia, competed and won the 2021-22 Season of Copa Zonkeys, Primera Fuerza, before reappearing in the ABE League.
