Baseball bats and adjustable wrenches. A gun stuck in his mouth. Unequivocal threats. If one of the perpetrators of this extremely violent home attack was caught by the police, it was because he had published a video of the attack almost live on the application. Snapchat.

Tommy Lee Guay-Arpin, 25, pleaded guilty last March to charges of breaking and entering and robbery against five men. He was sentenced to five years in prison, a common suggestion endorsed by Judge Hélène V. Morin, at the Montreal courthouse.
This filmed assault begins with a “misunderstanding” between Tommy Lee Guay-Arpin and the “main” victim, a man who is also not an “choir boy”, according to the judge.
He contacts the accused for an “alleged theft of jewels”, which does not seem to please the aggressor, who tells him: “Either you forget this story, or I go home. »
A few hours later, on the night of November 10 to 11, 2020, Tommy Lee Guay-Arpin carried out his threat. He shows up with several thugs in an apartment on Boulevard Pie-IX and comes face to face with the “main” victim. The assailants then order the five victims to lie down on the ground. Attacker “number two” hits the victim twice with a baseball bat.
« [L’accusé] films the scene with a phone. He takes the gun and says to the victim: “Open your mouth, otherwise you will eat a slap ostia.” He then puts the barrel of the gun in his mouth and says, ‘That’s the fun, cocksucker, why are you sucking on a gun, cocksucker,'” Crown prosecutor Ms.e Éric Poudrier, summarizing the facts to the judge.
Another assailant then hits the victim with an object, then Tommy Lee Guay-Arpin adds to it with wrench shots in the legs. “Let me not learn that you have spoken to people or to the police, we will meet again”, threatens the accused. The suspects then take the opportunity to hit and rob the victims before fleeing.
A few minutes later, a person notifies the police that an attack on the home is in progress. Tommy Lee Guay-Arpin had indeed published on his account Snapchat – an ephemeral videos app – a video showing him pointing a gun at the victim’s face. When the police arrived, the suspects were no longer there.
Identified on the run
Tommy Lee Guay-Arpin found himself on the run for several weeks. The Tactical Intervention Group of the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) finally arrested him as he was heading towards Central Station, apparently to flee.
Judge Morin was also surprised at the young age of the accused during the hearing, when he had grumbled that he was 25 years old: “Twenty-five years old! You look older! What will your life be like when you get out of prison? Do you intend to have these behaviors? asked the judge.
“I hope you will take advantage of the period that remains in detention to think about the future and to think about what you can do,” she concluded.
There remains a little less than three years in prison to serve for Tommy Lee Guay-Arpin, taking into account the time spent in preventive detention. He was defended by Mr.e Ian Gemme.
